A very important member of our community passed away on October 19, 2017.

Rose Guida, 93, was known as “the mayor of Fifth Avenue.” Born above a store on Main Street in 1924, Mrs. Guida was the mother of four children, including our attendance secretary, Louanne Bartlett, and Police Chief Len Guida. She was the grandmother of our third grade teacher Donna Maggio.

In 2015, the BBES gifted and talented class interviewed Mrs. Guida as part of an oral history project titled “Growing up in Bradley Beach Through the Decades”

You can read their interview with her here discussing her fascinating childhood and close-knit family.

You can also find a link to Mrs. Guida’s obituary here.

The Tides wishes to express our sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Guida.
