Scarecrows Bring Smiles

By Yazmin Flores
A BBES soccer player, a Day of the Dead girl, and a scientist were some of the imaginative and creative scarecrows made by our students and featured in Riley Park this Halloween.
This year, the Bradley Beach Recreation Department and the Bradley Beach Parent Teacher Organization sponsored a Halloween scarecrow contest.
The class who won was 7DS. They won a trophy and a pizza and ice cream party. The whole class worked together really hard to make their scarecrow, a Day of the Dead girl named Rosita. The idea came from Sharon Guzman Martinez. The supplies came from students and teachers.
The scarecrows were hung in Riley Park and on the street posts. The winners were named on October 30th during the Halloween Parade. Also in Riley Park there were beautiful decorations made by the younger grades at our school. Many of our students showed off their Halloween spirit that week by wearing their costumes in the annual Halloween parade hosted by the school on Halloween.
