Imagine the Hunger Games. Now imagine the Hunger Games as a video game. Fortnite is a free battle royale video game released on September 26, 2017. It also has a second game mode where you save the world from a zombie invasion. Some could argue that  Fortnite is hurting kids because they would rather play Fortnite than go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather or spend time in person with others. Other people may argue the exact opposite, that Fortnite could help kids be more social and can help them with planning and collaboration with other people. Read more

Some people may think that writing an essay about what you could do to change the world can change the way a person looks at the world. It just wasn’t that way for me, until Lily helped me see myself and my surroundings in a way I never thought was possible.

Right now I would love to fly away to a far away land through giant white clouds in the big blue sky, or swim in the cool blue ocean with the turtles and fish as my friends, but I’m stuck in the classroom not thinking a girl like me could ever change the world. I am not an amazingly intelligent witch like Hermione Granger, or a young heroine with a dazzling imagination like Anne of Green Gables. I’m just a quiet girl, looking for her place in the world, yet having no luck.

Let’s Talk Trench: A Music Review

After a year-long hiatus filled with cryptic messages for their fans to decipher, Twenty-One Pilots came back with a new album Trench, released on October 5. The fan base went berserk when the artists got back from their hiatus, expecting new music. Detroit: Become Human is a PS4 exclusive story game that mainly takes place in Detroit, Michigan, during the year 2038. Its main pitch is that it’s a game where your choices REALLY matter. The premise of the game is that androids (advanced, human-like robots) start to develop feelings and emotions, which could be because most of the humans in the game treat them unfairly because of who they are. Food, Suds, and Teamwork at the Car Wash

On September 28th, the 8th graders of BBES rolled up their sleeves and washed some cars to raise money for their Eighth Grade Washington trip. Eighth graders and many parents were there helping out and having a huge blast! Mr Leprotto was also there playing some upbeat music.

Not only did the 8th grade just wash cars, the parents made and sold some delicious Mexican food like jello with the colors of the Mexican flag, chamoy y piña (a sweet and spicy sauce over pineapple chunks), chips, ice cream pops, soda, and water. The car wash was located in front of the school, where the little kids playground is.

The New Faces at BBES

This year, 11 new faces can be seen in our school community. Let’s see who these kind faces are! The school has hired Erin Healy to teach gym; Amanda Bialek for fifth and sixth grade science; Jessica Campbell to be a first grade teacher; Gabrielle Giacchi to aid Mrs. Maggio in third grade; Lucy Newberry to be an ESL teacher; Brendon Coulson to teach second and third grade reading and writing, and second and fourth grade math; Jenny Krystopowicz and Kristin Goldsworthy to teach fourth grade; and Donna Taylor to aid the fourth and first grade classes. Bernadette LoPinto-Neil is our new preschool teacher, and Gabrielle Dawe is an instrutcional assistant in preschool.
