Opinion: Chromebooks Should be Used in Moderation

Chromebook-copyBy Brian Ramon-Miron

Chromebooks! These small devices we students always carry during our school hours. Currently, our school allows most students to use these devices as they wish during free time homeroom, recess and lunch. During these free periods, many students can download games or files and have fun, which isn’t a bad thing, but playing games has to be monitored and used in moderation.

Miss Oliviera Returns to Coach Softball

By Arely Rubio, Sports Editor

With the girls basketball season ending, softball comes creepin’ on in. Ms. Oliviera will be returning to the school to coach softball this year. Although Mrs. Vilardi did an amazing job coaching, and led us to 2nd place, she will be taking a break and planning for her new baby (congratulations!). Ms. Oliviera coached us two years ago and is coming back for this season. For those who are not familiar with her, she worked here at Bradley Beach a couple of years ago. While she was here she coached players who learned so much as a consequence! This year our season is going great with only one loss, one tie, and four wins! Not to mention the great energy the team of 13 has! With our upcoming games April 30, May 3, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, and many more  we would love to see support for our home games, and maybe some away games. With our last game it was an edge-of-your-seat game. In the sixth inning, we were up by one and they were up to bat, all we had to do was hold them. After that inning sadly they scored one run, now all we had to was score runs. Unfortunately they had a good inning and we walked away with a tie, 8-8. Hopefully this year will continue to be a great season and even possibly making the finals, I am excited for this season and what Mrs. Oliviera will continue to teach us!

Girls Basketball Season Brings Wins

By Arely Rubio

The season for the girls basketball was the best season that the girls had in a very long time. For a while the girls basketball team hasn’t been so good, for many years we have not won a game. This year was different we won four games and it was an amazing season for both coaches and players. And let me tell you those wins were definitely needed this season. Our wins were the first of 3 ½ years. With four wins and ten losses and the girl learned from their losses and carried improvement in the following games, and that brought out our four wins. Ms. Hamell, the head coach, led us to one of out best seasons with the help of Ms. Maclearie. Our wins against Avon, Belmar, Deal, and Neptune City were an improvement of our losses. This was a great season and hopefully we will carry on the improvement next year and bring some more wins to Bradley Beach!

Dear Raul

Dear Raul,

Sometimes I wonder what my friends think of me, and whether they think of me as a person they enjoy having around. Like, if I wasn’t there, and someone asked them their opinion of me, would they say stuff about me that I wouldn’t like? Or would it be stuff that is positive? I can’t help but feel insecure about what other people may be saying about me.

Sincerely,

Concerned

By Lucas Davis, News Editor

The year of 2018 marks the ending of the Church of the Ascension Seniors Club.  The group was a chance for the elderly of Bradley Beach to meet and socialize. The club was started ten years ago by the Joe Crowley, the parishioner at that time. In order to attend, a ten dollar fee was put in place for the club’s survival. After one year, he left, and the role of leader fell upon the shoulders of Ms. Crouse, who gladly accepted the position. Due to the lack of leadership in the form of the loss of Ms.Crouse, the club will be closing.
